Opal Coaches is owned and operated by Mario Alfonso who was born and bred in Sydney. On the 18th March 2007 Mario celebrated 23 years in the Coaching Industry. Having began in the early 1980's with one of Australia's Top Touring companies AAT KINGS, Mario played an important and instrumental part in establishing a lucrative Day Tour Market in Sydney. After spending many years on the road as a driver/guide with AAT KINGS TOURS Mario decided to set out and establish a Sydney Charter Company "OPAL COACHES". The name chosen for a stone that is synonymous with Australia and Today Opal Coaches has become a recognised name in the Industry being members of ATEC (Australian tourism export council) and a member of the Bus and Coach Association NSW. Mario finds it important to maintain a very hands on experience with his drivers keep them up to date and involve them in making OPAL COACHES the company it is. Over the years OPAL COACHES has established itself as a Premier Charter Company Operating a fleet of modern state of the art luxury coaches, all including their 24 seat mini coach are fully carpeted Video equipped and air conditioned, and no vehicle is more than 5 years old ensuring that passengers always have the most modern vehicles available. OPAL COACHES is proud to be the "official carrier" of the NRL Manly Sea Eagles, OPAL COACHES also provides transport to the Premier League and jersey flegg teams of the sea eagles. It has also been a privilege in 2006 to Transport the Australian women's netball team. In 2007 Mario decided to give something to local community sport and is a jersey sponsor for the North Narrabeen Sharks "Masters Team" of which Mario is a player. As Opal Coaches is a Sponsor and Proud supporter of the Manly NRL Sea Eagles, we decided to name our coaches after Manly greats present and past including Steve "Beaver" Menzies and a great legend of the game Bob "Bozo" Fulton,not forgetting our 53 seater named aptly after the Sea Eagles Favourite son and player from the 1970s Peter "Zorba" Peters who is also a well known identity with his radio program every Sunday morning on Sydney's 2KY. Our mini coach is named "the spirit of Big Al"named after Alex Ma who has proven to us all that an illness such as Cerebral Palsy is never an obstacle and has become Manly's # 1 fan.
